The owners of
the Scrapbook are willing to offer it to the Sausalito community
for a fixed price of $8000 = approx. $160 per image.
If the funds
are not secured by the end of Janurary, the Lost Album will
be put on auction.
If the Album
is put on auction, the Jean Varda Project will bid on it with the
funds raised. If it is obtained, it will be donated to the Sausalito
Historical Society. If it is not obtained, funds will be returned.

The biggest reason Jean Varda might be forgotten as an artist is
that the Bay Area has no collective body of his work. Varda's collages
are dispersed throughout California and other parts of the world
in private homes.
Obtaining the Lost Album with 50+ original, one-of-a-kind
paintings and drawings by Jean Varda from 1939-1940 is an opportunity
to honor that wonderful human being.
To prevent the Lost Album from being forgotten by it being
sold to a private collector, I am trying to obtain it for a non-profit
organization for the use and pleasure of all.
This project includes raising funds from the community to obtain
the Lost Album.
THANK
YOU
Also, call or write your Supervisor, the City Council, the Arts
Commission and the Sausalito Historical Society to thank them for
supporting this project!
