| The
Lost Album of Varda's Art & its Potential Return
Hosted by charming
local Sausalito history buff Phil Frank.
Phil's humor is as legendary as Varda's parties. He is the SF Chronicle's
Farley cartoonist.
Varda incarnated!
Chris Hardman of Antenna Theater brings
his colorful 8-foot sculpture/puppet of the mythical Varda.
Sagas told,
tales recited, rumors recanted. Truths you would never have believed
about Jean (Yanko) Varda are illuminated by the vivacous and rebellious
Heide Foley.
Experience chronicles,
stories and dream worlds of Varda as told by the veracious writer
Judy Stone, gentleman extraordinaire Alexis Tellis and via special
video collage, poet Victor di Suvero.
Turn of the
century violin rhapsody by genial good fellow Brian Wallace.
With a wine
reception & art show of Varda's paintings straight out of the
boudoirs and bedrooms of private homes from all over San Francisco.
Varda, who died
in 1971, was best known as a collagist. The event of art, poetry,
music and will raise funds to obtain an album of 48 original Jean
Varda paintings & drawings to donate to a non-profit organization
for public access. Because Sausalito does not have a collective
body of Varda's work, this is a unique opportunity to commemorate
our local celebrity, Jean (Yanko) Varda, by obtaining the album
for all to enjoy.
